While Kanye West might be best known for his high-profile relationship with Kim Kardashian, beef with Taylor Swift and string of
massive hits such as “Touch The Sky” and “Famous”, he’s also cemented himself as one of the greatest sneaker designers of our time.
With Adidas, he has made Yeezy a billion-dollar business. In the initial stages of the pair’s ongoing partnership, which began in 2015,
West was putting out designs in keeping with traditional sneaker silhouettes. Case in point: the Yeezy 350, 700 and 500 aren’t
dissimilar to previous trainers pedalled by Adidas.
In 2019, he decided to completely change his design ethos and he has demonstrated that there are no limits as to where he’ll take his
footwear. Last year, he introduced the bizarre Yeezy Foam Rnr. Crafted from a mixture of EVA foam and sustainably harvested algae,
the futuristic sneaker-cum-mules are undisputedly fugly. Following that, the Yeezy 450 Cloud sneakers comprised nothing but a lace-
up sock that had a little rubber along the sole, which crept up each side of the shoes. Of course, both pairs sold out in minutes.
