On the exciting date of February 2, she is all geared up to shine alongside the fabulous Jennifer Lopez at the halftime spectacle of Super Bowl LIV in vibrant Miami.
However, not long ago, Shakira had faced a daunting worry – the possibility of never being able to sing again.
This concern arose when she experienced a vocal cord hemorrhage in 2017,
resulting in a complete loss of her voice.
“The notion of losing my vocal abilities never crossed my mind… My voice was not just a talent, but an integral part of who I am. Thus, the inability to sing became an insufferable burden, plunging me into the depths of despair. There were moments when even getting out of bed seemed like an impossible feat.”
In an effort to reclaim her vocal abilities and minimize further harm, Shakira revealed that she embarked on phases where she completely refrained from speaking. She characterized those moments as moments of negativity and resentment. She expressed her belief that she needed either a surgical procedure or some kind of miraculous intervention to alleviate her condition.
Despite doctors advising her to undergo surgery, the successful artist chose to take a different approach. She decided to explore alternative methods, such as meditation, hypnosis, and seeking the healing properties of holy water from Lourdes.
Eventually, her vocal abilities were restored organically, which she described to The Guardian as a surreal encounter akin to a profound spiritual moment.
